This winter has been tough to say the least. Fishing has been way off what little I've had to go. My after work fishing spot has been super slow with a total of 4 crappie caught there year to date after 8 trips or so. Well since the sun was shining and it looks like rain for the next couple of days I figured supper could wait while I give the fish a go. Sure glad I went. Ended up catching 9 really nice crappie with 7 of them 12"+. I had 2 that measured 14-1/2" and a real pig that was a solid 16-1/2" long with a girth of 14". Didn't have my scales but I guess she was some where between 2lbs 12ozs to 3lb. Looked real close to my 3lb 2 oz fish on my wall. I took the best picture I could of her being by myself but the pictures don't do here justice. I also did not want to keep here out of the water too long. Happy to report she swam away and even gave me one more shake of here head when she left. All fish were released. Caught all of them fishing about 2-1/2 feet deep on a 1/32oz jig with a cork. Trip like this can make you get over winter in a hurry. Here are a few pictures. The release pictures are of one of the 14-1/2" fish. Sorry for the long report.![]()
