Set in March 2010, my personal record for number of consecutive skunks at this lake is 3. Today, I tied that record. For the past 5 days, I landed a grand total of 4 crappies, a few small greenies and YP, and numerous members of the chain gang. (The bite was better when you had to break ice to get to the water!)
WT in the open lake has risen to 47. The backs of coves have been above 50 on sunny afternoons, but fall back into the mid-40s at night. Visibility in the western end of the lake is very good--8' or better. As you go east, it turns milky green. Flocks of coots, ducks, and geese moved in when the other lakes were iced over and have been here ever since. Wherever they go, the water is stirred up and visibility drops as low as 6".

I've gave up on LCR. Out of 7 trips out there since January I've only landed 1 Crappie.
Corker,we know you will get them but with the way the weather has been yes winter was a whole lots easier for most of us,this has been one bad weather and bad water year, making a bad fishing time so far, april is looking good right now

Corker, I've been havin my best success here by fishin a lot shallower than I thought the fish would be. gettin a lot 18 inches to 3ft deep over 8-12fow. and goin very, very slow! .3-.4MPH,GPS. but I've been skunked more than you this yr so I don't know it all quiet yet!!!LOL!!!
I'm comparing notes with guys who have been fishing shallow & they're struggling too. If we could just get the same weather two days in a row....
I went Friday evening Saturday evening and Sunday during they day from the bank and caught 7 total... It's been pretty bad here... I've been fishing a creek off the main lake and I've noticed all the males down here are already starting to darken up... But I can't imagine our water temps are much different from yours??? All my fish have been coming right off the edge of the creek in no more than 3 ft of water... Bottom mostly sandy with a few rocks... Think they are making beds? No females lately but I've been consistently getting atleast 10 each time except this weekend... Something has changed... Well that was long winded I hope you get on em soon
Hi Corker,
Are you talking about LCR in above Toano? My wife and I fished there not long ago and caught five fish. A Bream, a Catfish, a Bass, a Crappie and a Pickerel. None of which were big enough to keep. I sure hope the water warm up soon. Thanks for the report.
