    Default South O' The Border

I went fishing at Indiantown Creek for a little more than half of a day on Friday, and I was surprised to find about an inch of fresh snow on the ground when I arrived:

The fresh fallen snow made the ride out very scenic:

My timing was good, and the sun was coming up warmly by the time I made it to the fishing spot:

By the time I had my fourth line in the water, I had my first fish:

It did not matter what color I used...as long as it was chartreuse:

I had the pleasure of fishing beside the Crappie Farmer in his Crappie Combine. Man, talk about a well-oiled machine! You should see that boy a'harvesting some crappie! You can feel the fish a'trembling when he passes by! Here he is in some two-fisted action shots:

Those fish don't even have half of a chance! The bite was slow for me, but I was lucky enough to catch my personal best, a 13.5 incher:

I ended up with seven crappie, and about half-a-dozen yellow perch that were about ten or eleven inches long. I threw back the yellow perch to swim some more. Here is what I took home for supper:

I was fishing in water that was between 9 and 12 feet deep, and the baits were about 6 feet down. I was pushing jigs tipped with minnows in water that was 38 - 40 degrees. Good luck, everyone. I hope you have some fun fishing soon. Dean
