    Default Chick Lake 1/12/14

First trip of the new year. Fished some of the uplake winter holes. Only caught 11 in 2.5 hours. Biggest was 9.5" All were released. half on minnows and half on Taps money jig. Had to count to 20 slowly and reel even slower with the jig. Water was 19', and temp was 41 degrees. The fish were at about 15-16'. I was surprised that the visibility was as good as it was with all the rain since Friday. Most were similar to this little 7" guy...winter colors. Hard to believe it was 7 degrees 5 days ago!

Thanks for report. My next trip will be back to the river. Anyone heard of any ring perch yet from the river. I think its still a bit early.
