After going to buy some minnows at a local bait store someone showed me a pic of a supposed record crappie of 7 lbs caught at buggs,so I was inspired to catch me one from the chick. I loaded my reel with 2lb test, bought me some minnows, jumped into my yak and started fishing.Around dark this monster came out of its LIAR to strike its bait. The bite was so light that i didnt know that a fish was on until i went to check the bait. I thought that i was hung on the bottom until i was dragged from the dam to the james river and back. Then the fish started to swim in circles so fast it created a whirlpool,so i turned my rod in the opposite direction just in time to turn its head. Finally after 10 minutes of battle it came to the surface, laid on its side. I lipped it and then paddled to the ramp with ONE hand while holding on to this beauty with the other.I dont know how much it weighed, but i estimate 50 lbs. After a quick pic I released it back to fight another day. I hope this fish tale brought a smile to the faces of all who view this post. Merry CHRISTmas.

That couldn't be true, I know this because the coloring of the fish isn't indicative of a December crappie.
Also I believe you meant lair not liar![]()

Taxidermy man gonna have himself a heart attack when he sees what you bring him.
THe next question is did it really happen today? I was looking at the river level/flow and wondering if it was worth trying. The James is on the way back down but need about 3 more days, at which time, I will be back at work.
I sure am glad you released it so it could grow up.
