    Default Lake Talquin slabs

Today Eileen and I caught some real nice slabs, we didn't get any 2 lb. fish but several were just a few ounces from 2 pounds. All fish were caught long lining in 30' to 35', the fish were hanging close to the bottom. We had a good morning with boating 26 and several of them were 14" plus. The closes one to 2lbs. was a 14 3/4 that weighted 1.87lbs and several others were right at 1 3/4 lbs. The evening bite was also good and we managed to boat 15 more, how ever the size was not as good as the morning fish. It was a great day to be on the water, the fishing was just a bonus. This morning I called TNT's uncle Ken to see if he wanted some fish and he said yes so we took him some, very nice man. The rest of our catch was catch and release. With weather coming in tomorrow I may take a day off and go to bass pro for some line and 1/4 oz jig heads, sorry Curtis, I only need a dozen and I cant wait until next week. I will stock up your light wire jigs next year when I come down. Love those litewire hooks, I lost over 100 jigs until I got some from Curtis, sense than I only lost about 2 dozen.

Good to see you have learned how to catch some Talquin Slabs. The fish are following the same pattern as years past. Hard to believe you have to fish that deep......but they are there and will be there for few more weeks......hopefully. Love fishing the channels at Lake Talquin and the Navionics Chip made following the channel equal for all fishermen. Got about 400 waypoints that I can delete......Hope to see you next year if not before.

Nice fish Vic and Eileen, look at all those smiles, that what it's all about.by the way any time you want to stay in middle of channel while trolling all you have to do is zig zag the channel and mark way points in center each time you cross then go from way point to way point.can do points and humps the same way,but I recond you know that,my long ways from the old days ,but we still caught fish, but fishing pressure is much more now, need all the help one can get now, glad we have Crappie.Com.

I'm afraid if you all keep catching fish like this and pretty soon you will be spending more and more time in Florida!

Yes Gene I knew that but it would take a long time to do and I would rather spend that time fishing. Thanks for pointing that out but you can save that much in lost jigs in time. There is no easier way than the navionics chip, it may cost you some now but it will save you that much in jigs after time.
