    Default Chowan river

Fished Bennets and Kathrine creek today. 5 small crappie and 1 small white perch all day. The algae has taken those creeks for the most part making spider rigging almost impossible and long lining impossible. There is a layer of algae in places 2 to 3" thick layered on top. Acres of green and the wind blows it all over. If You find a clear spot and are lucky enough to catch a couple fish, don't expect to fish it long because the algae fields will seal it off. I am not going back there anytime soon. Even the main river has wind rows of the crap.CF

Salmon Creek is the same way, 100% covered from Avoca all the way to Hwy 17.

Hey Ed I/T gets that duck weed to. Only it gets blown out by early winter from north winds. I'm talking the creek not down by the island.

Ed, you shoulda hollered at me. I could have told you about a few spots to try in the perquimans. I did a little recon a couple of months ago. Fished places I usually don't. Marked a lot of structure close to dropoffs. A couple of these spots would be great for spider rigging or a little casting. If you get ready to go again, let me know and I will point you in the right direction. You may as well try em out, it don't look like I will get back there any time soon.
