I stopped using B&M because of that. I found out Berkley makes the C- series rod, and I like it.

I doubt very seriously that any member of the Duck Dynasty family had anything to do with production of the rods. They probably just lent their name/label/brand to them, as a sales pitch/profit motive move. But, I could be wrong ... ... I don't follow the show.

I field tested for BnM, back when their 8' Float & Fly Rod was being introduced. Jim Duckworth, myself, and several others were fieldtesters for this rod ... but, you see whose name is on the rod, and it's not mine !! The BnM ad ( B'n'M Fishing ) says Mr Duckworth was asked to "develop" the rod ... but, I have no idea what his input was in the development. It could have been his idea, tip to butt, or it could have been that he was given the same unlabeled rod to use & provide feedback on ... just like I was.

My feedback was that as an 8' rod it was a nice rod ... probably a bit on the short side for FnF fishing ... and if the short handle were longer, it wouldn't necessarily need the counter balance weight system. Low & behold, a couple of years later comes the other model (Tennessee Handle FnF Rod) that only comes in 9' & 10' lengths. But, that's OK ... I got two Duckworth rods out of the deal ... one unlabeled prototype & one labeled.

Anyone having a problem with a BnM rod ... call BnM & ask to speak to Jack Wells (and accept NO ONE ELSE). Tell him of your situation, that you're a Crappie.com member, and ask him if there's any way he can remedy your situation. Be straight & honest with him, about how the problem occurred ... and I'm confident that he will do his very best to take care of you.

    CP,
I have heard nothing but good things about Jack. My problem is there is no other rod or reel manufacturer that has someone endorse their products that isn't a professional fisherman. There are a lot of pro and semipro crappie anglers not to mention hundreds of professional guides like they already use that I would want to endorse their rods. I really like the duck boys but I think B&M would do better to get someone in our sport to lend their talents in B&M designs.

    Just my thoughts

I respect your opinion, and somewhat agree. Out of the 20 or so rods I have, other than the two Duckworth FnF rods, only two others has a person's name attached to the model ... and that's Hank Parker & Sam Heaton. And I think I bought the Hank Parker rod off a consignment rack (used), and I won the Sam Heaton at a tourney (Spring Fling 2001 @ Watts Bar).

It's all a marketing ploy, anyway. Much in the same vein as cartoon character rods

Actually....Godwin and Phill were seen fishing Enid in MS. with Jack Wells and a famous MS crappie guide a couple of times week before last. I understand that Godwin is a big crappie fisherman and helped in the design of these new rods. There was also a article in the paper this morning explaining that the stuff that has Duck Dynasty on it is property of A&E the TV network that owns the show and Duck Dynasty name. Only the stuff that has the Duck Commander name and logo on it is the stuff that the Robertson family is marketing.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

BnM makes the rod. Just your preference as to whether it would suite Your needs with sensitivity, backbone, feel, weight,etc... It would not matter if it was pink and had Dayton's name or Boscoe stamped on it. If it was the perfect rod for me, I'd buy it and use it. Saying that, BnM needs to design rods from input from many different regular crappie anglers and from the Pro's.

If Godwin and Martin act in real life like they do on the shows, I know I would get along with them great. I also know that they catch a pile of crappie. I'm sure they could do a show on it and be successful and if they did, the rods would be much more acceptable. Just seeing the words Duck Commander on a crappie rod just don't look right. Almost like they skipped over big on something here.CF

Thanks For pointing that out G, makes perfect sense now... And if they really did have a hand in the design I'd buy it a heck of a lot faster than if they just sold them the rights to the logo. I have seen those guys crappie fishing on the show at least three times I can think of right off the top of my mind... I like the show a lot, I like how they are humourous without profanity and hie they end each show with the whole family sitting together at the dinner table, that's something I was raised to do... I am a firm believer in dinner is a time to come together and talk about each others day... Not to just grub in front of a TV.

A&E sure has found a way to pimp out their faces, walmart, Bps, heck even 7-11
