Thread: Boat Motor Out Of Commission...

my 96 johnson 9.9 remote steer/throttle is out of commission.... fished all day saturday with no problems? dont remember hitting anything... but when i got home there is gashes on the tips of two of my prop blades? didnt think much of it and went out fishing on sunday... got in the water and NO REVERSE!!! did a little inspecting while out on the water and noticed the motor was moving around and very loose? not loose from the mounting tabs though... as if that wasnt bad enough while out on the water my "cheap fix" on the throttle cable fitting decided to break after months of holding on strong. so i lost all my ability to throttle as well! lol... got home and took a few pictures.

this looks to me to be a motor mount of some sort? the arrows show where it is snapped off...


anyone know what this part is called or where i can find one? i am guessing that the motor hit hard on the bottom while pulling the boat out of the water? amateur move on my part by forgetting to lift the motor up!!!


the bottom cable is the throttle... the "through bolt" or whatever you call it is plastic and broke when i first got it... tried JB weld but finally gave out on me!




anyone know where i can get just one of those tabs or something that will work?


after i fix those two problems i will still have to deal with the No Reverse problem... dont have a clue what to do on that???? unfortunately this will probably keep me from fishing the bash this weekend....

Sorry to hear it... I'd offer you a backseat in my boat but my dad will be fishing with me, he is gonna bash then off to the ZZ Top concert. Ill let you know if his plans change Jesse. Dave from Dave's Marine off west Norfolk rd does all my work he is very reasonable... And a good mechanic
