    Default Pembroke 8/21

fished from 2 to 6 yesterday afternoon. caught 11 crappie, 1 catfish, 1, bass, 1 yellow perch. All caught on pink/white homemade baby shad stinger. I caught half the fish today casting and half tight lining. All fish on brush. This is the first time I gave casting a real chance and I loved it. Had one crappie jump like a bass. Just have not decided if I like casting 1/16th or 1/32 ounce better. I feel better contact with 1/16th but the 1/32 does not hang up as much and I can work it slower. Just don't feel as well.

Got to get out one more time before next week. Corn harvest starts then.CF

PP, are you making your own 1/24th jigs? If so, did you augment a 1/32 mold or are you just buying the jigs from someone. I have a 1/32 ball head mold that I could make some changes to. I would rather make my own jigs as I make all my jigs.I'm assuming that the 1/24 jigs have #4 hooks? I agree with the sickles. Only way to go. I think your right on that size. It would fit just right for my average fishing depth. I am having a hard time trying to find a round milling bit to mill out the 1/32 ounce cavities in my mold. I have this mold and don't use it much. Would be good for turning half the cavities into 1/24. I would prefer a minnow style head though. Just don't recall seeing one anywhere in that size.CF

I get mine from grousefly, he makes 1/24 in minnow or ball, barbed or no barb. I've yet to find something he doesn't have the mold to. And #2 or #4 on those... I prefer without barbed collar and #4 on the 1/24. I just tinker with plastics, I haven't dipped a toe in the lead pouring yet... I'd love to, would be handy for making decoy weights as well.
