Very disappointing day at little creek. Only managed two crappie, both less than 9 inches. That is one hard lake to fish. Anybody got any suggestions on increasing success out there? I did manage to pull these 2 nice fish off a dock on the chickahominy last night though

That place will put you to the test. Some days you find a few & the next trip you get a skunk. It's much deeper than DR or Chick Lake & there's less structure.

I agree with Corker. I've only fished there a few times but never have found many fish. I guess its just one of those places that takes a lot of getting use to and learning it.

Yeah, it's one of those places where you never stop paying your dues. If you're lucky enough to find a producing spot, it might shut down and never produce again. Three springs ago, I had several good spots that didn't produce at the same time last year or this year.

I got ya... Yeah it is definitely a tough deep lake to fish. I have a good time catching big shellcrackers there but any other fish are hard to find. Corker like you were saying I found a beaver hut up on the far end about a month ago and caught close to sixty small ones off of there but went back and didn't pull a single fish. Also I know a lot of y'all are retired, if y'all are ever looking for someone to tag along I work night shift 3 nights a week so I have plenty of time. 12 hour shifts are no fun, but they have their advantages during hunting season and when you want to fish. Would love to go learn something from some of the veterans.

Ever sense she went way way way low back in 02 or 03 cant remember exactly what year gotten old it was DRY out past the first beaver hut on the left almost to the first point to the east. The main lake looked like a ditch it was sad. NN Waterworks had Hampton and Newport News on water rash ions. Before that happened that place was on fire. I kept nothing under a pound and kept no more than 12 fish a trip. ALL on jigs never took any minnows. But today i don't waste my time there. Even though it's Verna and I favorite lake to go to it's one beautiful lake. It's sad. Believe me or not it used to be like the land of Gooch. But i guess it's like they say all things must come to an end. But am still hoping she will return to the days of old.
