    Default Meade 7/06/13

I hadn't been fishing since the first part of May, because I have been spending a lot of time at the beach. Life could be worse huh? I'm torn between fishing and surfing. I have surgery (osteotomy on second metatarsal) scheduled for Jul 17 and wanted to squeeze a few beach days in before I am a gimp. I figure about 4 weeks after the surgery, when I get the okay to bear some weight, I will be back to fishing. But, it will be a long time before I can plant my feet on the deck of a surfboard.

Anyway, about 12 pm on Friday night, with two weeks left until gimpdom, I switched my boat back over from SW to FW. It took me two hours and I got to bed at 2:00am. I finally put the surfboard down, and went fishing at Meade yesterday morning from about 7:30 until 11:30.

I found fish in between the first Pitchkettle bridge and Highway 58. I fished a flat that was about 12' deep, and the fish were scattered and suspended anywhere from 8 FOW to the bottom. Blue/silver, solid white, and Tennessee shad colors worked good:

I was slow trolling one 14' and one 7' rod on each side of the boat. I was going about 1.1 mph. The 14' rods are spooled with 8lb test, and the 7' rods are spooled with 4 lb test. I tied 1/6 oz jigs on the 14' rods and tied 1/32 oz jigs on the 7' rods. I just did lazy circles over the flat. I pulled in about 30 fish total, with only a few under 9 inches and only a few over 11 in.

Command central, including all those 70s oldies they play on July 4th weekend:

Since my freezer is empty, and I won't be fishing for awhile, I was on a meat mission and kept 21 that went between 9 and 11:

I also saw a Koo-Koo bird out there, but he just couldn't get those wings to fly:

    Nice seeing you, JimB.

Perc, Tap and others: no minnows, jigs only! Corker: sorry, but I did THINK about buying some.

    Good luck, everyone!
