    Default BM Saturday (late report)

Size: 78.8 KBHad grandkids this weekend and decided to take the granddaughter for half a day. Didn't start out good for me. Started the motor and didn't realize the prop was sitting on the bottom, put it in reverse and broke something. Don't know what is broke, but won't go into either forward or reverse. Decided not to disappoint the gal with me, decided to do trolling motor only. Took 45 minutes to get where I'd planned to start. Found tons of all species in shallow water. Wound up with 23 crappie (males were dark and aggressive), 32 perch that hit like freight trains, 1 large pickerel, 3 nice bass (two were right at 2.5 lbs, and the third was 8 lbs, 5 oz.). Quite a fight on 4 lb. test, she made 3 jumps like a tarpon.

Had to work a while today, but I'm going to try it again tomorrow.

Don't know what has happened, but can't post pictures all of a sudden. Anybody else have the same problem?

    Mike

That bass was a toad. Nice assortment of fish. Any size on the yellow perch or crappie?

The ring perch weren't big, the crappie I caught were typical BM size. Only things big all day were the biggest bass and the pickerel. Mike

That smile says it all! Great pic. Hope its something simple to fix on motor!
BTW, I tried my DI again , when I took my son out, had spilt screen ,1/2 regular 2d and 1/2 DI -for @2 hrs. I liked the regular sonar better, guess I just am used to reading it ..
I found some brush with SI and when I got over it, I switched to Sonar/DI screen, on 2d sonar I could tell it was row of sunken trees, but Di was hard to make anything out.. ( But I do plan to try it out some more, But its kinda hard because I want to fish when over the brush, not look at screen on DF

Charlie, Sometimes I interpret what is on the screen better with DI and other times it is 2D that shows what's there better. That's why I usually split the screen. Mike

I have no problem finding brush with my DI. Perhaps you don't have something set right. I take it you have a HB and I know nothing about the new ones.

Jim, That was my first trip to BM in a couple of months. I've been concentrating on trying to learn Cahoon and Meade. Funny, as well as I know BM, after the layoff, it almost felt like a new lake. I was really surprised that all the species were sharing the same places. Caught shellcrackers, bass, pike and crappie in the same small pockets. Mike

    Thanks for posting.
