    Default Perquimans River Report 3/17

Bad Day. Couldn't fish on Saturday because of two soccer games and baseball practice, but the weather turned out great after the initial rain that day. Imagine that. Headed out bout 7:30 and fished til 12:30 Sunday. Not much to mention. Marked a lot of fish and baitfish, but they didn't seem to want to bite much. Tried different depths, speeds, colors, techniques, prayers, everything. Caught 8 crappie. 5 of em dinks, and three in the 11-12 inch range. All three of the larger fish were in the same area. Go figure. Also caught two small rock, a YP and a hickory shad. I carried a lot more clothes than I had anticipated needing, then realized about 9 I needed a lot more than I carried. It was cold, breezy and the river had a lot of current in it. Seems the fish had headed back twards wider river where there was less current. Everything I caught was in about 12 fow or less and the water temp was 53 degrees. I sure will be glad when some nice spring weather gets here and stays.

Thanks for the report. I'm still wanting to head that way sometime.
