Default What brand and kind of line do you use?

I like using 6 lb. high vis mono line for crappie fishing. I previously used some Viscious which I liked very well but it is harder to find locally. Last year I bought a spool of Bass Pro crappie high vis 6 lb mono. It did good at first. Now not long after you put it on, it wants to twist up. I installed it on my spinning reels just the way your supposed to. I am in the market to purchase new line for all my crappie rods. I would like to know what everyone uses and how they rate it. Thanks in advance for your input.

We recenty had a thread on here about line, I was also in market to buy new line, decided to order some Viscious Hi-vis from monks (and Money jigs)
Suffix elite seemed highly rated also.
Was using Stren 6# it really was poor excuse for line, Trilene 6# (red) worked well for yrs , but It is time to replace and I'm ready to try something new.

You said it did ok at first then started twisting, could it be drag too lose and winding fish or something and not taking in line will cause it to twist,or unbalance bait like a curly tail with tail turn opposite way of hook on a lite jig like 1-32 causing the bait to flip over, I use 4 lb flow that came from bps and it do ok for me.

I keep my drag more to the tight side. I have the viscious line on some of my rods still. Never had this problem. I like to change my line every so often. It seems once I got to the center of this spool of BP line, it is very twisty. I don't know if its how they put it on the spool or maybe its getting old. I know I am going to go back to vicious or something else. I may try the Sufix Elite some on here prefer. Thanks for the info. I'm not nearly as knowledgable as many here on crappie fishing and appreciate all advice I get. Most of my fishing in the past when I was younger was bass and cats. I really enjoy crappie fishing now.

( using spinning reels) I was taught/told by grandfather,, it isn't so much using a light drag -- but twists are caused by reeling while a fish is taking drag. Say the line is stopped ( at stand still)- If your reel is 5:1 ratio, for each time you crank handle, you put 5 twists in line .

Bill dance taught me about the line twist also . However, I recently bought some P-Line about two weeks ago and decided to try it out Saturday. Well lets just say that line didn't make it to the lake. I couldn't stop the line from twisting so I said the heck with it, took it off and stuck with my Suffix. I tried stepping out if the box, but I went back in.

Someone recommended Nano-fil by Berkley on a previous thread so I decided to try it. So far, I am extremely pleased with the line, no twist, very small diameter, casts great. The downside is price, $17.95 for 150 yards at Green Top. Maybe it will become more reasonable over time.
