    Default Bdr 3/11/13

Went back to Beverdam swamp today with Crappie Master Linwood Green. I put a hurting on him yesterday landing 11 to 1 ! Today started @ same with me landing alot more fish , on the way back , I talked him into drifting with wind -floating minnows. I hung 2 very nice fish (13-14") Then BOOM!
The dog lands 4-5 biguns! One was 16.5 weighing in at 2.5# ! (Dang guy did this to me the last 2 yrs!) all fish were caught in less than 17 FOW @ 5-7 ' with WT 47-48.
BTW, fish is still swimming at BDR , Good man!

That's a great way to think about catch & release.

Thanks for the report Charlie. Good feeling releasing a nice fish. Any perch. Looks like a trip to BD will be in the future.

No YP. And I fished very close to an area they hang at in spring. My buddy was not sure about letting it go, he had been unaware that I had let go 2 last yr in BDR, not wanting to kill such beautiful fish. After some thought about money it takes to mount fish ( he has a mount from last yr fishing with me already) and not wanting to eat it, and a little ragging by me, he decided to let her go. I hope she makes many many babies!
BTW, Males were in back of creeks, but no real color yet, Females were schooled up, in transition to shallow water. ( yesterdays fish had color when caught)
The fish colored up in cooler, all fish today looked almost white, like they just left deeper waters.

My buddy stated he wants a 3#er . I told him we could go to Buggs for that one.. Then started thinking-- it may be too long of a trip for me. He likes to anchor and sit in one spot for hrs. I like to spider rig, cast and to troll. (I will stay in area if fish are present and/or catchable but not for hrs and don't even think I have anchor on crappie boat). Those styles are not compatable,,,
At end of day, I talked him into pulling anchors and drifting for a whilesince wind was blowing towards ramp. Then even when we started catching bigger and nicer fish including the 2.5# fish , while drifting with wind (we were moving .5 to.8 mph), (and fish were on move in @ 100'-200' area, so I used TM to keep on top of them )-------------------------
He wanted to stop , drop the anchor!!!

WTG Charlie, nice going on the talking your buddy into putting that fish back. I have put over 15 two pounders back this year in Florida. Thanks for the report and pic's. Looks like I may be heading to BD.
