Thread: advice and pointers on cold fronts

Im headed to the chic lake this wk end and looks like ima be fishing after a cold front.i know you fish structure tightly a slow but they still seem to get lock jaw.i domt have much luck after the cold fronts.and now im sure the lake is gon be high and muddy.any advice and pointers wpuld be greatly appreciated.thnx!!

Wish I could help with tips, but I get my butt kicked too. But here is the chick river flow. The area did take a slug of rain this last time and is slowly falling.

first off, don't think negatively. cold fronts offer more challegen fishin. take the challenge! I use smaller jigs, the smallest minnows, an troll very slow. when ya catch one, stop. troll back thru there. fish closer to cover and the bottom. docks can be really good after a front. shoot lite jigs or flip a 1/64 oz jig with a minnow on it. when the goin gets tuff, fish harder!

The lake will be muddy, but not high. It's an overflow dam, so it can only get so high. This past weekend (new moon-spring tide) the river got so high it backflowed over the dam into the lake. Fannie's Creek nearly had us cut off from the mainland for a couple of days at high tide. There is also a ton of water from the recent rains coming into the lake, as observed at the crossing at Bottom's Bridge. There should be a significant current, perhaps enough to just drift, if you are planning on spider rigging. George Allen of Ed Allen's came over to the house last Wednesday and said the fish are still deep in the lake. That's about as much lake info as I have right now, hope it helps.
