    I don't know, maybe because my mom was nearly killed when she was run over by a boat with a broken steering linkage.

    Hey if your comfortable with it it's an awesome idea. I'd love to have a stick drive boat, I wouldn't ever have to get out of the seat.

    cable steering used for 50 yrs ,before the new type sys.with a lot bigger motors.the cables are steel plastic coated

    All the watermen I know have big crabbing boats have an oar with crab pot line rigged exactly like this. I dont blame ya for taking out the platform.

    oh and the bigfoot switch for the TM is how mine is rigged. I love it. Leave it in forward at your fav speed, have bigfoot switch in momentary, just tap it when ya need it. Looks like a crappie catching machine to me!

    That's how I learned to do it in the 60s. The only difference was these large work boats all had inboard motors and the steering rig only had to control a rudder.
