    Default Lake Cohoon / Meade

Me and the wife are planning on getting out for the first time this year Saturday afternoon I am thinking about Cohoon or Meade because I haven't had a chance to get my Norfolk permit yet and I can get my minnows at the ramp. I have fished Cohoon a couple of times with a rental boat and have never been in Meade. Anything I need to watch out for in either Lake such as hidden stump fields or sandbars that might tear up the boat. I have been studying Meade on the computer and it looks very interesting. Any help or suggestions would really be appreciated. I hope to post some kind of a report this weekend.

i cant remember which one is which... but the lake to the right of the tackle shop has several submerged tree stumps. i stayed to the left bank following a friend and stayed slow... didnt catch many fish so i cant give you any advice on that subject. i think if i went back now after all i have learned about crappie fishing i could catch a few

Just to be on the safe side until you learn the lake a little better, just stay very near the left bank after you go under the first bridge (Pitchkettle Rd.) and until you go under the Rt.58 bridge. After that you are pretty safe except things you can see on the surface.

Thanks for the tips on the stumps fellows. We made it out to Meade today around 2 and were off the water by 4:30 we weren't dressed for as cold as it was on the water. The water temp was 44. No luck with the speckles only 2 small bass.

Texas Pete I saw your plate in the lot maybe will get to meet on my next trip.

Me and a buddy got on the lake around noon and left around 5. It was cold again today. Was that you with the white pick-up and jon boat with 9.9 yamaha? If so, we were pulling out right behind you.

No, we have a blue dodge with a cab high dog box. We do have a 16ft polar kraft with a 9.9 yamaha. We must have just missed ya'll because we saw him putting his boat on the trailer.
