Beware of Bank fishing at Lake Maury. They only allow bank fishing in one spot near the boat house.

I know a few places where there is decent bank fishing in Hampton. One is the lake beside Bass Pro Shops

Another not many know about is a pond back in the woods beside the Boo Williams Sports Plex - Intersection of Hampton Center Parkway and Armistead Ave

There is also a canal that runs alongside Hampton Center Parkway where I have caught some decent fish. It can be accessed in the back of the businesses along Butler Farm Rd.

Welcome, Mark. We must be neighbors. I live just below Walkers Dam in the Shores. You can fish from the Docks at Rockahock or Riverside camp. Riverside charges $3.00, or negotiate with Mike for an all year rate. Mike also rents boats with small outboards, but bring your own battery and trolling motor. Come down rte 627 all the way across the railroad tracks, keep going and take the left fork at the "Chickahominy Shores" sign. The camp and ramp will be on your left. The hands down best shore crappie fishing I have ever seen is on the Wicomico River under the bridges in Salisbury MD. It's a hike, but you can stay cheap in town and get some Maryland fried chicken at English's. This time of year it super up against the bridge pilings, but expect company. I just pulled the boat out of the river today, or I'd invite you to stop over and fish. The upper river has been slower and warmer than usual for this time of year.

Thanks for the advice from all. I do reside in NN and I am looking at a few places on the NN side of Lake Maury. I used to fish back there long time ago from a jonboat and did well. Even had a paper bass back there. I have this week off and plan on trying it if its too windy to chase a striper.

With a week to spend on various options, you might want to add Diascund and Little Creek Reservoirs to your list and make a run up to Lanexa/Toano one day.

The Diascund rules & regs say "Bank fishing by the general public will be permitted in designated areas immediately adjacent to the public boat ramp." That includes a little bit of water that has been known to be productive. PM me if you need specifics.

LCR has a nice fishing pier and no one seems to mind if you fish the bank from the boat ramp area. Again, shoot me a PM for specifics.
