On SC board it has ,information from slab,he is planning to make forum for only those who sign in, too many get information and do not give any. And also I see your pics are in same place ,do you use a tripod, and if so how do you take a pic, do you hit button or do it do that also,I need to learn how to use a cammer, I know all of you are laughing but just never use one, but willing to learn, maybe we could get together and you could show me how you set yours up ,and take my boat to Buggs and see whats bitting, just a thought ,know you like fishing by yourself

And I can come along and take pictures, videos, underwater shots, aerial views etc...................LOL
Some of us don't post Reports, because we can't get out to fish; like me, so I contribute what I can. I like hearing that someone caught fish and love seeing the pics. I could not give a lick how they caught them or where. When I was able to get out there I posted reports, and will again once I get out there again.
Cheers
Doug

chasing ghosts, I know how you feel, but try to fathom doing your homework and putting the time on the water in to learn where to fish and how, only to have people follow you around on the lake, some of them youv'e never seen before, so to a certain extent these top notch fishermen are causing a problem for themselves by sharing too much info.
I understand the point... just saying not everyone is a leech. I turn down ride-alongs to avoid the label.

Just FYI. If referring to my comment above, it was merely a joke. I have not fished in over a year, but still would not want to just ride-along.
There is probably no solution for the lurkers who only come to this site to get information and contribute nothing. If Slab sets it up that you have to be a member to view then I would just imagine these folks would create an account so that they can view and continue to not post anything.
This is not a gripe against any current member but those who are not members. Currently at Crappie.com there are 167 members signed in but 734 "guest". Sure, some are new and just checking out the site but many are the lurkers that are only here to get information and have no intention of ever contributing. This is why most of my info is now shared via pm.
As far as taking pictures go, I do not do anything special. I just hold the fish in front of me trying to get the fish finder in the pic and take a pic. Roy is the one who sets up his camera for self portraits. I believe he just sets it on his rear seat.

I enjoy reading your posts Tap even if I live in Southwest VA and probably won't ever fish the lakes you guys fish. Its still neat to see some nice fat slabs and here about how you all are catching them. Where I don't have a boat most of my fishing for crappie happens during spring time... Any other time I'm trout fishing in a mountain stream! :D
I think Ed did a great thing in '96 when he established this site, and from the number of members, 26,209, a few more crappie fisherman share my feeling. The site was established to share information about fishing, so I think. If you don't want to share anything, then, don't post anything. I haven't fished but a couple of times this year because of a medical problem, but, I don't mind posting information when I have a good or a bad day. If I had someone follow me around because of a post, I would consider it a compliment and prolly take their picture and include it in my post about that trip. Doesn't matter if a reader is a member or a lurker, they are prolly the same as most of us were when we 1st started crappie fishing, just trying to learn how to catch fish. We share the pleasure of fishing for one of the most prolific fresh water fish there is, how many people think they are going to all be caught. If a "hole" dries up, I find another. Structure, depth, presentation, what secret to hide? Sorry, may be frustrated because I'm not getting to fish, but, I am still on the board, sometimes sign in, sometimes lurk. Heck, make it a pay site and see how many members are left?
Please read the "Billy and the Kid" story that Ed posted, this is what it should be about.
