Default I only caught 5 crappie but .....

Went to fish off my favorite little dock Friday afternoon around 4 PM. Dropped a famous GeneC's white stinger jig down around 8' deep and gave it a little twitch, bam! 1st crappie of the day. A nice 11"er. Moved down the dock about 5' and dropped my jig back down and gave it a little twitch again when I felt that little "tink" that we all love. Set the hook and could tell right away I had a good one. The fish put up a real good fight on my ultra-light rod with 4lb pound test. After what seemed like a long battle after I had seen the fish, , and even a couple of jumps from it, I was able to lay down on the dock and grab her. She was a solid 15" long with a nice full belly and overall really dark color with red areas on her tail and mouth similar to what you see when they are spawning. A few quick photos and I slipped her back into the water. Started back down the dock and caught another nice crappie then had a quick slashing hit from a fish (probably a pickerel) that took my jig, the only one I had. I fished hard for another 1-1/2 hours trying different jigs and only managed 2 more small crappie. Next trip I'll be sure to pack more of Gene's jigs.

Enough with the hat comments. It's about the ugliest hat I've ever seen. I bet he would be pulling in 3lb'ers if he was wearing a Steelers hat.

Thanks guys. My hands are slowly getting better now after the surgeries. Start work today on a new contract job so fishing will go back to the weekends for a while. I think I'll stay with my Packer hat for now. It works for me.

Jim I'd like to do Buggs this spring, give me a few weeks to let me see how this whole job thing is going. I'll let you know. Really liking fishing with a jig.
