It was a very nice day to be on the water and a good day to catch a lot of fish. Problem is it was just like predicted, all very small. So it was just as well I forgot my camera. My very first cast using a money jig produced a keeper size gill so my neighbor that was with me wound up keeping about a dozen. I had planned on keeping some of those 9" crappie that everyone was talking about but they were few and far in between and very thin. Maybe 25 total. Throw in a few other varieties kept us busy and an enjoyable day. We stopped at Butler's for some minnows which was a mistake. We paid 10 bucks for 3 dozen that were suppose to be small but were more like bass minnows. As it turned out we should have just saved our money. Minnows produced 1 raccoon perch and that was it. Everything else was caught on jigs. I've never really tried very hard at long lining but am beginning to think I need to look into that a little harder. Anyway it was a good day. Anyone that is well experienced in long lining and wants to go during the week, let me know. I'd be glad to take you for some instructional time.
