I hit Buggs again today but only managed 21 crappie. The good part is that 8 of them were between 1lb3oz and 1lb 6oz. I got a few 6'-7' deep over brush early then I had to get down into the brush and did best around 15' deep. I threw Cajun Cricket, pearl, blue ice, and chartreuse/pearl BGBS as well as worked a pearl/chartreuse wasshoppah. I never got more than a few in one place. Winds were gusting to 25mph so I stayed in Eastland. I knew I was in trouble when most the cows I saw on the ride in were laying down. Battling the wind all day long didn't help either. Third cast of the day was a 13" 1lb 3oz crappie but it also was the only one I caught off of this particular brush pile.
Here's another decent one.
Not sure where I'm fishing next weekend. Water temp was 61 when I got there and 64 when I left.

Good report Tap. It might have been slow but it beats being at work like me LOL... You could always drive a little farther west and hit a couple of my home lakes. I'll give you a free guided trip LOL

8 fish over a pound is a good day. I'll take that over 100 throwbacks anytime. Yeah I agree with you on that cow thing. I hate to see them laying down when I'm going fishing. Thanks for the report and pictures. Nice video too.
Tough day in the wind but you caught some quality fish. Nice report and video.
Tap, a good catch for not going to this lake no more than you do. Many at the camp and at ramp were asking me about the fish ,they could not find them. As for brush ,it is not the cows, all week only a few, mostly 1 or 2 on each pile,I talk to others who saying the same thing. With warm weather and if the water stop dropping then they will move back on laps but not until water stabalize, don't want their eggs on dry land. When we fish we have been doing good but only on brush a short while but the advantage we have is knowing where 100's of brush is

I don't recall catching any white crappie. I let them all go. Partially due to the spawn and also the fact that I want to eat all the fillets I have in my freezer before I bring anymore home.
That sure helps. I have now fished Buggs 56 times since my debut trip on 9-16-06. Only trip that year plus one trip in 07 so between 08 and now I'm averaging a little over one trip a month although I have been out there 18 times in the last year for 1.5 trips per month. Hard to figure them out with such little time on the water there.Originally Posted by genec
I would of made the trip to one of the other creek arms but didn't want to mess with the main lake with winds gusting to 25.
