Default Water temps in SE Virginia

It's been a very mild late fall and early winter and the water temps reflect it. Here's some data from the Suffolk lakes over the past few years.

    12-24-2011 53 degrees

    12-23-2010 42 degrees

    12-24-2009 45 degrees

    12-26-2008 48 degrees

    12-22-2007 47 degrees

    12-26-2006 51 degrees

These temps were taken off the same fish finder. An average of 46.6 this time of year prior to this year. I guess we had a fairly mild late fall early winter in 2006 as well. I'm sure the fish are a bit confused with the warmer water temps. I just found this interesting as I like numbers.

I think that is interesting too ,didn,t know it was that warm in 2006. How do you keep up with it on a DF?

It has been mild. Hope it turns back to normal so we can get some sledding snow next year. I think 50° give the crappie freedom to be any where they want to be in the water column.

Gene, Tap saves data like I save picture taken from the internet. One of my favorite is when Tap and Mrs. Tap went to the DC rally. I love that green shirt.

Tap even secretly documented the exact number of small crappie that Corker reloacted.

I bet the fish know exactly what to do Tap. It is us that are probably going to be confused trying to figure them out after having a string of years of cooler average temps. Except in my case where I need to first go fishing before I can even think about what they are doing but that is another story that keeps unfolding upon me like a never ending nightmare when it comes to free time.CF
