With your history of heart problems, she's probably right. For those of us with no history, her view is still worth considering--especially at this time of year. When I fish alone, I tell someone where I'm going. There are many weekday trips when I'm the only boat on the lake (or one of very few.)Quote:

I know Peter would not have wanted his accident to in anyway keep me off or away from the water. His would would have been to learn from his mistake, but always live life to the fullest ( he always did)
Yeah , Corker you are right. If it were not for her I would not be here when they took me to the hospital they told her that they did not think it was my heart because of my age. Then my son came back to be with me and said dad mom has just went off on the dr she is pissed. They did a stress test on me and my right coranary artry was 98% blocked, The flew me to Washington hospital center and right into sugery. I would not wish the helpless feeling I had on anyone. I had always thought there was major pain involved when you had a heart attack but I was wrong. The first one I had was like a severe case of indigestion that just wouldn't let up. The next 2 there was pain and one of them was bad. Screwy blood pressure isn't always there. But with all 3 heavy sweating was involved and my cardiologist advised that is one of the most common symptoms. Also there are some enzymes in your blood that point to a heart attack. I'm sure there are a lot more symptoms but that is all I can remember right now.
Did the doctors tell you what brought on this condition? I always wonder if it's just bad luck genetics or some other factor.
My symptoms didn't conform to any I had heard or read about. I guess that's why I wasn't panicky about getting help for it. I thought it might be muscular or skeletal. My symptoms were a burning high in the center of my chest, almost through to my back (between the shoulder blades). There was no numbness in any limbs. The pain didn't feel like compressing pressure (some say it is like an elephant sitting on your chest). The pain didn't radiate anywhere. All the incidents were preceeded with physical activity and subsided (almost immediately) with rest. They increased in frequency and took less physical activity to manifest over a 1 and 1/2 week period. The final day (Wednesday) I had four incidents. The last one only required me to walk 20 or 30 footsteps and prompted my buddies to intervene.Quote:

It was blockage (99.9%) caused (I assume) by cholesterol. The doctors said the rest of my vessels/veins/arteries looked fine. My cholesterol levels were not elevated. There's no family history of heart related problems. I have let my physical condition deteriorate due to several old injuries that have become artheritic with age, which made exercise difficult. Both ankles were damaged in a flight deck injury many years ago and after forced PT (30 years in the navy) and being a runner (you wouldn't know looking at me now), when the pain in my ankles got worse, and since I didn't HAVE to exercise, I got out of the habit. I'm making drastic dietary changes and looking for a pain free method of exercise. I'll get things under control.Quote:

The second one I had was just the same as the first. No pain just felt like crap. I was 35 and in good health and it floored me. I think mine is more genitcs. My mother passed at the age of 58 from a massive heart attack. Her mother died 9 days after giving birth to my mother from a heart attack. So I think mine is more genitcs. I have a 28% loss of heart muscle and as I age it really shows. Please if you feel something is wrong go to the hospital. I have lost friends that just blew the symptoms off and now the are gone. So please dont ignore your body. I have 2 stress test a year and have to go have my stents checked every 5 years but I am sill here. So please be carefull. Oh and about the excercise walk dont run just walk it has done wonders for me. I head for the door and my lab gets her leash and we just walk , where I walk I could not walk 50 feet after it happened but now I can make 10 to 12 trips around depending on how hot or cold it gets.
