    Default Fall trip

I went out to fish last night and got to the lake a little before dark. I was idling along the edge of the drop off where the flat part of the basin begins in 30 FOW and I started seeing schools of fish near the bottom. I stopped and started jigging with a 2 1/2” Gulp minnow and quickly caught 3 big perch, a big crappie and a bass. Unfortunately as full darkness came on the schools disappeared, so I headed out to one of my regular spots and anchored, put out a light and started jigging again. Usually I keep one rod near the bottom and the other about midway and I switch back and forth jigging, usually there are fish near one or the other or both.
I stayed until 10:30 when I’d had enough of the cold, I wound up catching a couple big bullheads, 3 yellow perch, 3 rainbow trout and 16 crappie plus a bunch of bluegills and smaller crappie. All on a jig with gulp minnows, I usually have a 1” one on one rod and a 2 1/2” gulp minnow on the other.
The next warm afternoon I have some free time I’m going to try moving around and jigging the schools I can see on the fishfinder.

That sounds like a great trip, at night no less.
Thanks for posting and inspiring me to get back at it. Hoping to go tomorrow for a harvest trip of my own.
I also hope I do as well as you did!
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

Job well done! I generally don't use 2.5" I'll have to give that a try
