    Default After work trip, 7-24

Yesterday was hot but the humidity was tolerable and I found the ambition to see if the fish were biting. I called 870 and he was agreeable to hitting the water and we were on the water about 5:45, on one of his local ponds. Air temp about 82 and water temp around 84 but a pretty stout wind kept 870 glued to the trolling motor control.
I scored on my first cast, a basic bluegill (the first of many to come) of about 6". I think my partner scored a bass on his 2nd cast and that would set the tone of the evening. We'd keep at it until 8:40 and the wind never let up a bit like we'd hoped it would.
I only snapped one picture of my share of the catch, my first crappie of the night. It would come not too long after we started when my partner hooked his first crappie of the night and I tossed a cast over to the same area his came from and hooked mine.

The counter would read 80 fish when we called it a night and easily 75% of them were bluegills of up to maybe 7". We had tossed back a couple of small crappie but put 6 of them on ice, the rest of our catch were LM bass. No perch were caught but I did have one follow back to the boat at one point.
We had a bald eagle perched in a tree on the far side of the pond, too far for a decent picture. He stayed there on that branch the entire time.
We processed our catch quickly when we got back to his place and I pulled in the driveway at 10:10 pm.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
