Thread: Hooked another one! 2-22

Yep, we got another fisherman hooked on jigging with sonar.
870 and I have been trying to get another friend to join us on one of our trips and today he was able to join us as we chased after some more perch and crappie. I think the smile says it all.



He is an avid fisherman and ice fisherman, just never had the chance to try jigging with a sonar unit. We got him set up with one of my rods and in the first hole we parked him on, he got a nice crappie after a couple of missed bites. It takes a while to get in tune with the light winter bites on a short rod with lots of line out. Good thing I have a spare sonar unit as we did a LOT of hole hopping today to put some fish in the bucket.



A wonderful day to be out; cloudless blue skies with very little wind. Along with temps in the upper 20's, I almost didn't need my coveralls; a nice change after the wind and cold we've had for the last week.
I'm happy to say that we had a fun, productive afternoon with all 3 of us rotating holes, rods and sonar units so we all could feel the tug on the line. Guessing we put about 40 perch and crappie in the bucket between us.



We fished from about 1:30 till 5 today. It seems the afternoon bite is not as hot as the morning bite or it could be related to the weather. Big high pressure air today and last week it was a falling barometer ahead of a strong storm. Who knows, who cares; we had a great time with lots of good banter between the 3 of us.
