Personally I don't do it at all and some of that has to do with the lake I live on and fish, so many trees. In spring and fall I longline troll and in summer I just tight line usually and prefer night time in summer. Have use a float on occasion too, but not a lot.

So I say that to say I am of no real help with that, sorry!

I see YOU have been a member 1 1/2 years but I have to say welcome to CDC from the number of your Posts !!! The setup shows Two fishing from the front, and the Pole holders set for one side fishing forward and the other for dragging behind the boat ------ This set up good for pushing and pulling Crank Baits .... The only thing I do not see for doing this, is the Electronics that would tell you what speed .... The holder on the left side of this picture could also be good for Long lining.. But these things are obvious showing some things and not others --- if you were fishing alone with one seat up front the pole holders are almost out of reach spider rigging and should be at ate same height... I hope you also have a holder mounted within reach for the net also... One thing that makes things different for spider is the Length of poles used.... 10 - 12 - 14 and for some 16 and cover 30 feet wide while fishing and having enough different colors to see what the fish want ---- if a person is short on Patience this form of fishing is not for them ---- Hope this helps

That might be fixed with a offset seat pedestal, though it does only move the seat 6" forward. But, if that is enough to reach the rod holders "comfortably", at least he won't be sitting over top of his trolling motor pedal, since it appears he doesn't have one.
