Crappie spawn when the water temps get to 59-61 degrees after winter. Most lakes go by the water temp. They start moving to shallow areas before the temp reaches 60 but they are moving.
How do you know when the water temp is 60 degrees? I usually notice the pollen falling and settling on cars and outside objects. A thin layer of pollen lets me know the waters are about 60 degrees and I go crappie spawn hunting in the shallows of these lakes.
Don't know specifically about Tawakoni. Good luck!
