    Default TPWD stocking question

How hard do you think it would be to get the department to stock a place with crappie? It is part of the Nueces River. I believe it is called Nueces Lake in CampWood. The county regulates it but not sure if they help out much with it. What do you all think?

The state of Texas has no breeding or stocking program for crappie either black or white is what the Athens fish hatchery told me , they say the fish take care of themselves and I think the spot you are talking about probably has crappie in it already anyway .I Pretty much have not seen many spots without crappie in them in Texas myself and in most cases its a little park or private water body if there are not crappie in it best I can tell .
You could get some folks together though if it don't have crappie in it and do the stocking yourself if you can get permission from the county to do so , they don't cost much and proliferate super fast in fertile waters...that's my 2 cents on it ....

I dont think there is any crappie in this part. I have never caught any. Now further south down the Nueces around Crystal City and that area yes it has crappie in it. I have looked at the stocking list for TPWD and have seen where they have stocked crappie before.

I think many years ago they did .....you might check back in with TPW and ask , I just know some of my buds took 3 lb fish to them thinking they would breed them and that was not the case when I called and inquired about 2 years ago

Depends on what lake(s) you look at
Plenty of small lakes show records of crappie stocking back to 1996
Many more will be updated here soon as the restocking of many lakes that dried up are now back to full/near full
    Some lakes lost everything
