    Default Trinity river

I hit the trinity river quite often as a lot of folks know , its really close to me in downtown ft worth in several locations . some of the spots are not like they used to be after all the flooding . one in particular was always a favorite and after the waters went down it isn't near as good .
but listen to this , a bud I showed the spot to , goes after work right before dark frequently and it seems that's when the bite occurs down there now instead of around lunchtime like it used to be. I met him down there twice in the last week and sure enough not a bite till about 45 minutes before it gets to dark to see ....
and I mean its every cast when the turn on time hits , just like the good ole days ....
7 foot deep in a 9 foot river channel and they are real particular on color ....pink head orange body and chart tail handties are the ticket ....
AND no nibble no bite ...go figure
some photos for yawl and yes the lil ones seem to dominate but there are few slabs in the mix ....

Just curious. I can remember back when that levy was built and was told the run off from downtown would cause come concern regarding pollution and high mercury
levels in the waters (Trinity River). Don't remember you saying if you ate the fish you caught or not, but do you have any knowledge as to the cleanliness of the water?
I used to catch a lot of very large gar from the downtown area waters and saw a lot of nice crappies caught by folks fishing there. They were keeping them for consumption back then and I just wondered if there was anything to the reports I've heard about the water quality. The looks of the fish look healthy and clean.

There is a consumption ban in this area & NO Ketchn (to my knowledge) nor I ever keep any of the feesh, strictly catch & release....
They do look very healthy but I would never eat feesh from know consumption ban areas.....
It sure is a good stress reliever setting the hook after a tough day at work....

The real big gator gar are long gone , folks killed them off it seems and after a lengthly chat with the fisheries folks on several occasions it's best not to eat fish from that area just like the state recommends.....so no I don't keep them , I did give up a 3 lb black bass to homeless fella that really wanted it though

Shame these waters around have to have so much crap in them so they need warning about eating the fish! That is something that should never happen! Someone should have to pay and pay big for that kind of thing!

Several spots I know of were ruined by our government seems the air bases on at least 2 lakes are the culprits
