Default Rosy red bait use legality?

As far as I had known it isn't illegal to use either rosy red minnows or goldfish as bait. I go to petco tonight to get some, and the lady there told me that it was highly illegal and they were an invasive species. Now I looked it up on the tpwd site and saw nothing stating it was illegal?

I would go to a bait shop but there aren't any around here.

    Thanks!

They sell goldfish at a local baitshop here around Lake O the Pines. Ive never heard of them being illegal. Rosy reds im not sure about but again never heard they were.

Yup I thought so as well since they're just a breed of fathead minnow. She also said that goldfish weren't legal bait.

Wish we could get some rosie's 2 to 3 inches long, most of what we see over here is under 2 inches long. Legal to use tho.

Think she if misinformed or just full of BS!

The local bait place here is a distributer and only reason they don't sell Rosey Reds is because they think they will sell less because the Rosey Red's live longer and are tougher than shiners! I ask and one of them told me this. I do know they sell goldfish!
