Have not tried them for crappie that I can remember and if I had done well with them, that I would remember! I did well in Arkansas on Rosey Reds, but just can't get them here without ordering a ton of them from Arkansas and that is just too much for minnows for me since I hate using them anyway. I am interested to see if anyone else has tried them and what they found!

However I may try that next summer if I can get some small ones just for kicks.

They do live well where shiners suck and die son easy! You know my memory tell me I think once I had like one goldfish and I was night fishing. I took that goldfish (maybe it was?) and just stuck the rod in a holder and let it just sit at the edge of the dark since we had a green light in the water and almost forgot about it until I noticed a big crappie pulling the heck out of that rod, lol! I never had any to try again, but am thinking I should do that once spring is done this year.

Happy New Year Reese, it's been a while and I hope all has been well for you!

Yup I just think it was bs, since I wanted 4 dozen and it was five minutes till close lol. What gets me is not all of them were rosy reds, a lot of them were straight up fatheads!

Blands Fish Hatchery in Taylor Ark. devolped the Rosy Red, aka Rice Slicks. They have any size you want. Drop one of their 3+ Rosies in there and business will pick up.

Several years ago I fished all day (8 hours) at the big marina on Somerville and caught 2 fish. TWO! Folks all around me were fishing with jigs and pulling them in left and right. Finally, in the last hour, I put on two of the only jigs I had, really tiny 1" ones, and caught a few to bring home. Learned a valuable lesson that day. That's the only experience I've had fishing lil goldies.
    Happiness is a scraped-up thumb.
