Default Luce Bayou - Lake Houston

Fished luce bayou Friday 8/7/09 with friend . water temp A.M.-90- P.M.-93- thought we were going to get skunked because of full moon all night . Water in bayou was clear-stained. Managed to end up with 35 keeper crappie . 1 white bass . one 3 1/2 # cat . caught on jig pole (that was fun !) fish were in 13' to 15' of water just off bottom . Most fish were caught virtical jiging did manage few on road-runners . chart-glitter was best color .

Are you fishing close to the Ponderosa Marina? I have been thinking of taking my little 2 man 10ft bass raider up there and doing some fishing in the bayou if the wind won't throw me around too much. Wanted to find out if the water was tiny boat friendly.. Thanks Jim

KATJIMOO: YES ! I do launch at ponderosa and fish 1/2 mile eather way . As for using small boat - fished from 10'2" bass hound for years . The only problem is with (stupid) jet-skies and (uneducated) big boat owners that don't think about how tough it is to be in a small boat or yak when the wake that they make hits someone else . other that that it a great place for small boat ! good luck !

Thanks for the info. Might have to go up there one day and put in and try my luck. Want to get into crappie fishing which is why I came on to this board. I assume I should have some good luck with the bass fishing there as well which is more what I am geared towards. Jim

I grew up fishing Lake Houston , I got alot of childhood memories that came from that place. In my late teens I moved to Mississippi .I still had a brother that lived in Highlands , we kept saying that we were going to get us a trip together ,but unfortuneitly he got killed in the Deep South accident a little over a year ago.good luck to ya'll on all your future fishin trips. if your ever in north Ms,let me know we got some darn good fishin around here..

Sorry to hear about your loss. By chance are you talking about the crane that fell at Houston Refining/Lyondell? If so I consider myself very lucky, 2 min before it hit I was parked in a truck about 20 feet from where the tip landed. I had moved shortly before and was about 50 yards away when it hit, I thought it was an explosion in a tank. Bad day for everyone involved.
