When scrolling through the menu options and attempt to choose the transducer selection under the "connected transducer" Sonar menu option, the transducer options will display momentarily, but then instantly the menu cursor will exit the menu and revert or jump back back to the "Alarms" menu.

The different size screens have different pixel densities.
The 798 has 31,170.5 pixels per square inch.
The 898 has 17,533.4 pixels per square inch
The 998 has 12,755.7 pixels per square inch
The 1198 has 8,858.2 pixels per square inch

The Helix specs are ...:

480 x 800 = 384,000 total pixels
3" x 4.6" = 13.8" square inches (unverified)

384,000 divided by 13.8 = 27,826 pixels density per square inch ...

(If my calculations are correct on the Helix) ...

So the Helix total resolution is almost as high as the 798 ...

Constructing a route ... From Greg in another forum ...

You have to tell the unit what waypoints to use in your route. You can make a route two ways as the manual says. Go under the Nav menu tab and select the Waypoints, Routes, Tracks menu and use the right arrow key to open the menu. Use the Up arrow key to get to the Options menu and open it. Select New then New Route and name the route. When done with that you will go to the Plan Route menu and start selecting waypoints. Don’t forget to save it when you are done. The way to make a route ‘on the fly’ is to move the cursor when on the Chart View, to a location or a waypoint you already have marked and then use the GOTO button. Select additional waypoints until you have your route constructed, then go to the Xpress menu on the Chart View and select Save Current Route.

You can also make a route in the HumminbirdPC program.

One thing worth noting is that the 30 does not have traditional scanning, period. I don’t know if you will want it on there but I figured it was something to share. Beyond that, the 40 and 50 have minor different frequency ranges, but that won’t really affect you. The only difference beyond that is the 50 has CHIRP on traditional, whereas the 40, while it is technically bit more powerful (which won’t affect you), it’s locked at either 77 or 200 kHz.[/QUOTE]
