I dont think you need to invent the wheel. some one else have already done it. Contact <www.titelok.com> they can help and have good unit already designed for you.

I tight line a lot out the back of the boat. This is the setup that I use... a buddy helped me design it and welded it for me. I hope it helps you out.

I made this rig for my boat, my dad calls it the moose rack! LOL I looked at store bought models and they did not have all I wanted. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with them it was just not what I was looking for. I bought some square tubing and 10" pvc pipe for the holders and started getting my ideals together. The first thing I wanted was my fishfinder at eye level with my poles, the second thing was a place for my crappie nibbles (1" 1/2 pvc cap). the third thing is I wanted 12 poles across the front. The forth thing was a place for my GPS.I really have enjoyed it & works great for two people. I would take your time and think about it, draw it on paper over and over until you have it the way you want it. I hope this helps and if you need any additional photos PM me.

No pictures...however I was able to make mine for under $45 with no welding involved (can't weld). I made mine out of 3/4" galvinized pipe. Permently mounted a plate in the floor of the boat that would accept the 30" vertical pipe which threaded into a 3/4 "T" branched off 18" to either side of the tee to mount the rod holders. I then took 1" square aluminium tubing which just happen to slide wright over the 3/4" pipe to give a flat place to mount the rod holders. Just make sure the pipe conections are pretty tight before drilling the holes for the rod holders. Hope this helps... if nothing else gets your mind a thinking. could be done cheaper if I had access to a pipe threader... had to use premade lenths

I have been laidoff work for awhile and had planned a reelfoot trip before this happened.and i wanted to spider rig but didnt want to spend 100 to 150 dollars for a permanent factory made deal. so i used some 2x4,eye bolts,and some cheap prongs to hold stuff on the garage wall and there you have it.Its anchored with a C clamp to the rail and each pole still swivels side to side.I fish in illinois and we are only allowed to fish with 2 poles at a time,so i wasent going to waste my money on a nice spider rig if i aint good at it.
