Mrs cnette01 hasn't been in a while and she wanted to go after last weekend's results, so I hooked up the boat and headed to JPP with her last Saturday morning. We saw several deer when we pulled into the park, which is always a good indicator to me of how well the fish will bite.
We launched the boat and pulled up into my favorite cove to see if the fish were there. I had decided to try pushing a crank bait to see how that would work, and it worked pretty well. Mrs cnette01 pulled the lure right out of the first crappie's mouth that hit on the pushing pole - it was a new technique for her. Man, I hate losing a fish like that!
Anyway, we did pretty good and Mrs cnette01 caught a nice TARP crappie just over 14 inches long. At one point we had 3 crappie on at the same time, but only managed to bring 2 of those to the net. We ended up taking home 11 nice ones, with 5 shorts thrown back for next year. We also had a couple of bonus catfish, but released those as well. Here's some pics.
