Took my 4 year old and 9 year old to Old Hickory today. Wind advisory so I scouted online and found the most protected creek arm launch I could for the prevailing wind today. It was still brutal windy, but I would call the plan a success because we were still able to fish. We launched out of Davis Corner launch near Laguardo. Found some crappie on woody cover in 4-5 fow and only in the shade. Could fish the same cover in full-sun and no bites. Only one keeper though, an 11 inch black-nose crappie. All caught on white squiggle tails; there seemed to be a definite preference for that bait. 1/32 oz jig head. Didn't get a single pic between managing the two younguns and windsurfing I had my hands full just staying safe and keeping them out of the trees.
Just glad to get the skunk out of my boat for 2020!
