Winds of Change
Ok, show of hands if you woke up this morning and felt the cool air on your face that oozed its way down South from our Northern friends. At 8am, 59 degrees registered on the truck thermometer cemented my plans for an afternoon fishing expedition. All day at work I kept a check on the conditions, as usually a cold front means wind, and sure enough by 4pm it was moving the tree tops with vigor. That’s ok, the cool breeze is welcome during these Dog Days, and the first breath of fresh cool air in the Fall is similar to seeing the first Robin in the Spring. Anyway, when I launched I quickly remembered the lack of wind is vital to using UL equipment effectively, especially when fishing deep and using the superline braid I have settled on, Nanofil. Between the waves, wind, and keeping the boat correctly positioned I had no time to snap any on the water pics. Spot lock would be nice!! I use a 1/32 oz jig head and the wind kept a bow in my threadlike line all evening, making bite detection difficult to say the least. My deep fish have not moved, and I caught several while battling the cooler but trying conditions. I snapped a few pics at home before I cleaned them, trying my best for Ketchn quality compositions:-)

?Nothing big as usual, 12in has been my Summer benchmark.

I hope you felt the wind of change today, certainly a harbinger of things to come. Fall is only 30 days away.
