The Dog Days of Summer are finally here. Shortened days, stagnate winds, and Air that you can Wear all contribute to this transitional time of year. Fall is just around the corner but the winds of change in TN are still at least a month away. Over the weekend we kept the oldest grand baby so no fishing was done. We visited a co-workers hobby farm and she was able to pet and hold a menagerie of critters.

Making memories we will not soon forget.

Back to work on Monday and I was able to sneak out a little early for a quick afternoon trip. Our lakes are about 5-8ft higher this year than last year due to a 4.5in surplus of rainfall to date. I will take this bonus water as my deep fish remain hungry. The bite was very light, the old swing-and-a-miss idiom characterized my outing. I found myself dipping the jig in the G sauce many more times than usual to help persuade these finicky fish. I did catch some and snapped a few ET Fish shots.

Nothing of big size, 10 to 12in, with one monster broke off at the boat. Nanofil just does not have the abrasion resistance that I would like but it has become my everyday line.

That bottom fish had a weird looking Bulging Google Eye when I caught him.

Keep after them, even when it gets tough. They still have to eat!
