Caught a Few
After about a week in Ketchn Country (Texas) I made it back to Tennessee to find about the same hot temperatures and dry conditions. Forecasted storms didn’t stop me from getting back on the water, but sometimes the weather man does get it right. I arrived at the lake around 5pm, launched and immediately noticed the water temperature of 81 degrees, are you kidding me. When I left last week it was 74 and some of the Crappie were still shallow. I think ET Fish said we skipped Spring....Amen brother. I stayed close to the ramp as the distant skies started to darken and targeted deep brush. I found a few here and there, managing about 7 with only 3 keepers.
?
By 7pm the wind was unbearable for what I was trying to do and I threw in the towel. The above 3 were released and in the sprinkling rain I loaded up and headed home. From the reports I am seeing and these water temperatures I will definitely start targeting the Gills primarily from now through the Full Moon. This time next week it should be on!
