Dropped the wife off at the airport this morning for a business trip and you know the old saying “When the Cat’s Away, the Mice Go Fishing!”
This little mouse scurried home, grabbed some crickets and set off to find some gills and/or Crappie. A cloudy, windy rainy looking morning was not favorable for finding bluegill, so I targeted Crappie first, and the nesters / spawners are still doing their thing.

Both Blacks and Whites were biting, and the Slab Sauce did its job yet again. Waded through about 20 dinks, mostly guarding males and finally caught the one I was looking for.

Now, off to find some Gills. The sun finally came out and with it came the Sunnies! A small pocket with a dock and a concrete ramp was warming nicely and I spied some small females cruising the shallows. I put a cricket on under a floater on my new St. Croix Panfish rod and found my quarry, a nice male.

I don’t think they are bedding yet, but I did manage 9 nice males from around the dock.

I did catch one on my souped up Panfish Magnet, and even caught this pretty lady in the exact same spot the gills were holding. Bucket and cleaning board shots from home.
