Well our annual trip to Toms has come and gone again. Wish we had more to report but we could not put a pattern on the fish with the weather changes we had. We started out late Thursday morning. Cloudy, temp 55 water temp 54. Rain was in the area but it looked to be a couple of hours out. Did not go far from Tim's Ford Marina and set up on a blow down. Second cast with my slip float and reel in a dandy 1.5 pound crappie. Then I lose one and Lynn catch's its sister. Lynn looks up and says there is a dark cloud. She checks her radar and sure enough it is coming fast. Reel in and go to get our rain suits on and before I even got my first arm in the coat it came a flood. Now wet and 55 degrees we head back to the cabin. Wet to town and got supplies and came back around 5:30 and boated a few more before dark. Friday we did pretty good with about 25 fish mixed bag of crappie, small mouth, and large mouth. Was windy this day with air temps only getting to fifty and water temp about the same. Still cloudy. Weatherman was calling for a clear day on Saturday with temps getting in the 70's. Saturday morning came. 35 degrees and fog. Water temp dropped to 48. Skies clearing to bright blue. OH NO. As luck would have it we caught 3 small bluegill all day. We could not find fish anywhere. Even the humminbird could not find fish on them. We were in the wrong spot for sure. The day was very sunny and little wind. This woke up every lake lice in the area. Jets skies already? Pleasure boaters and yachts. We thought about going up river but after crossing the channel and getting tossed around by wakes coming from every direction we decided against it. No good fish this day. Sunday the last day and we check out. Go out to see if we can salvage the weekend. Partly cloudy, 48-74 air temp water temp back up to 58 no wind. Went to an area I had never been before on the main lake. Nice area and a good day to travel that far since most people had not gotten there yet. Only 1 little small mouth for the effort. Headed back towards the Marina around noon for 1 last spot. Fished the top of a tree and caught 4 good crappie that went over 6lbs. Ran out of minnows and called it. Not the best time we have had there but considering the weather I guess we did ok.

Size: 138.4 KBOh by the way, on Saturday when we didn't catch anything guys in the Middle Tennessee Crappie club did very well at Woods reservoir and up river at Tim's shooting docks.

All fish were released to fight again.

Good fishing everyone.
