Pushing allows for much shorter amounts of line out so it enables one to make tighter turns where contour can be followed. One thing lots of folks don't consider is pushing with a heavy weight allows one to use baits that are rarely associated with trolling like rattletraps, minnow stick baits, very small and very shallow runner baits. I get to dig out lots of baits I would rarely get wet. I personally won't use deep divers on push or power troll rigs. I let the weight and amount of line out dictate my bait depth.
One big plus of pulling cranks is it gets the baits away from the boat in sunshine and clear water.
