I'm sure this is gonna sound stupid but what's the advantage to pushing cranks or jigs vs pulling em? Never pushed so I haven't a clue....

Pushing allows for much shorter amounts of line out so it enables one to make tighter turns where contour can be followed. One thing lots of folks don't consider is pushing with a heavy weight allows one to use baits that are rarely associated with trolling like rattletraps, minnow stick baits, very small and very shallow runner baits. I get to dig out lots of baits I would rarely get wet. I personally won't use deep divers on push or power troll rigs. I let the weight and amount of line out dictate my bait depth.
One big plus of pulling cranks is it gets the baits away from the boat in sunshine and clear water.

Ok I gotcha. So when u push, your line is pretty much down the side of the boat. A man could prob push and pull at samee time then huh....

Pushing is just what it says. Poles in your "spider rig" rod holders out in front of the boat just like spider rig trolling. just with crankbaits and much heaver weights 2-3 oz. weights. Youtube it. Pushing cranks for crappie, planer boards for crappie... etc...
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.

Actually, from what I understand ... the "better" crank bite is during the hot weather/water period. But, I know what you mean about "cooler weather" being more comfortable to fish in, which is why I built this umbrella holder contraption :
But, unfortunately ... it don't help much with the humidity.![]()
