I would put in at Antioch and fish the North side of the big island with a south wind

The wife and I are thinking about heading up to Big Sandy this Saturday. I have looked at the weather and see that the wind will be out of the south at about 9. I haven't fished it in years, and know that it is a rather large body of water. With a south wind at 9 where would be a good ramp to put in at coming from Camden, and will that wind be too much? I have a 17' bass tracker.

From Camden, Britton Ford is close. It is just a short run out to Big Sandy from Britton Ford. You cant hide from the wind on Big Sandy. ha . 9mph wind will be bumpy.
Antioch is also a good choice, but a longer drive.
I like the pump house ramp in west sandy myself

Pumphouse is a good ramp with new boarding docks loading your boat. Plenty of parking room too. It is about 2 1/2 miles from Pumphouse to Big Sandy. Nice cruise and you go by my house which is 1/2 between Pumphouse and Britton Ford. ha
Be extra cautious where you boat. Some areas are closed to boating until March 16 for Migratory birds and other critters. If you see the sign, stay your distance. They will get after you although the birds are all gone.
Didn't know you lived on West Sandy, wife and I went in on a cabin at Pleasant view during the duck hunting season with our son and his buddies. Spent six weekends up there fishing. Will pm you next time were up there, we looked at some lots for sale in your neighborhood. Would really like to build a cabin in that neck of the woods.

Antioch is where I always put in but I like fishing swamp creek and the cow pasture which like Cane Pole mentioned is closed til March. I would go out and find some fish and throw out a couple wind socks and just go with the wind. I used that technique on Reelfoot lake last Sunday and almost got a limit and would have if I didn't have to leave early for my grandsons 2nd birthday party... Good luck and tight lines!!!

Boating in a restricted zone can get you up to a $2500 fine and up to 6 months in jail. Be aware.
