    Default Fort Loudoun We

We were a bit late, but got on the water about 7:15 this morning. We didn't have time for a long trip, so hit an area I discovered last week. Water temp today was 83-84, and we were in about 25-30 FOW. They were finicky and hugging bottom. I have not been able to find a defined thermocline, so it was drop it until it hit bottom. Make a couple cranks, and hold it still. Some hit it fairly hard, some just took it and got that heavy line feeling. Brought 5 home for eating purposes! Name: image.jpg

Now a question for the experts. When I shoot and jig docks this summer, primarily what I catch are black crappie. The deep offshore, like today, are primarily whites. Is this just their different traits?
Anyway, Thursday is the start of dove season, so fishing is done until mid September. Should be getting good!
