Ky lake fisherman

I fish around the Danville area .. I was trolling yesterday and the whole bay I was in had all kinds of surface activey going on I could see tail fins but when get too close they would swirl and be gone before I could see what they were.... Also when I would bump my trolling motor up on 10 the whole area within 50 yards of my boat fish would swirl on the surface then be gone within seconds .. Anyone know what kind of fish these are its not the first time I have seen this .. I am thinking it may have been those Asian carp but never could get close enough to make a ID on them
